QiYi Axis Cube (EQY575) – budget 3×3 shape-mod that breaks the cube’s shape

QiYi Axis Cube is a modification of the classic 3×3: it turns exactly like a normal 3×3, but loses its cubic shape when you turn it. Pieces have different shapes and thicknesses, so once scrambled the puzzle becomes a “broken crystal” you have to solve by shape instead of colors.
This puzzle is not an official WCA event – it’s meant for collections, fun, and developing spatial thinking.

Turning feel

For a budget shape-mod, QiYi Axis Cube turns quite smoothly and predictably:

outer layers turn evenly, without heavy catching;
overall speed is medium-fast with good control, comfortable for both casual and more snappy turning;
even in heavily shapeshifted states the cube tends to stay together if you don’t force the moves.

It doesn’t feel like a top-end speedcube, but as a hobby / shape-mod puzzle it’s very pleasant to play with and to learn on.
