QiYi 233 Cuboid — 3×3×2, the “simplified sibling” of the classic cube

The QiYi 233 Cuboid is a 3×3×2 cuboid — essentially a regular 3×3 missing one layer. It’s a bit easier than a full 3×3, yet still offers an interesting challenge with slightly different layer logic.

It’s a nice next step after the 223 if you want something closer to a 3×3 but not as involved.

Who is it for

• solvers who already handle a 3×3 and want a light but non-trivial cuboid;
• fans of “almost normal” cubes with a small twist;
• collectors building the 223 → 233 → 3×3 progression.

Turning feel

• overall feel is close to a regular 3×3, just a bit flatter;
• turns are light and predictable, especially along the longer axis;
• without the extra layer it spins quickly and is fun for experimenting with algorithms.

Construction & comparison

• form factor: 3×3×2;
• difficulty roughly between the 223 and a normal 3×3: more engaging than the 223, but less layered and demanding than a full cube;
• pairs nicely with the 223 in a collection: one is stretched (2×2×3), the other “squashed” (3×3×2).
