MoYu Super RS3M 3×3 — Ball Core: “Super RS” with magnetic core and MagLev for maximum speed and auto-alignment
MoYu Super RS3M 3×3 — Ball Core is the top version of the Super RS3M line: it features both a magnetic ball core (corner-to-core) and a MagLev system instead of springs. This combo gives a very fast, “floaty” feel, pronounced layer auto-alignment and noticeably increased stability at high TPS compared to the standard magnetic and MagLev-only versions.
In practice, it’s still a “people’s” RS in terms of price, but in behaviour it’s very close to full flagships: dense magnetic control, modern geometry and a ball core that makes the cube feel solid and predictable.
Who is this cube for
Skill level:
- intermediate and advanced speedcubers with confident fingertricks;
- those who have already tried the standard Super RS3M (Magnetic or MagLev) and want more auto-alignment and stability;
- competition cubers who need a fast, modern main without full “ultra-flagship” pricing.
Age:
- teenagers and adults;
- also suitable for motivated kids, as long as this is not their very first speedcube.
Main use cases:
- intensive speed training and working on high TPS;
- as a main for local and official competitions;
- upgrade from the standard magnetic Super RS3M or other budget cubes.
Turning feel
- turning is very fast and light — MagLev removes spring/washer friction, the cube hardly resists the turns;
- the character is smooth and “floaty”, moves flow easily into each other when spamming algorithms;
- the ball core gives a “rail-like” effect: layers clearly tend to “snap” back to the center after each move;
- magnetic clicks are noticeable but not overly harsh — the cube feels both fast and controllable;
- under aggressive turning there’s less feeling of “looseness” than on typical budget cubes.
Out of the box, Super RS3M Ball Core is usually set quite loose and feels very fast. If you want more control, you can slightly tighten the tensions and add thicker lube — the cube responds well to setup and lets you tune the feel to your style.
Ball core, MagLev and magnetic system
Ball core (corner-to-core):
- magnets in the corners are attracted to the magnetic core — layers tend to realign by themselves after a turn;
- fewer micro-misalignments, the cube keeps its shape better at high TPS;
- the construction feels more solid and “monolithic” compared to pure spring-based and even MagLev-only versions.
MagLev instead of springs:
- springs in the centers are replaced with a pair of repelling magnetic rings;
- no spring/washer friction — turning becomes faster, smoother and quieter;
- no spring squeak, and less wear on the tensioning system over time;
- the cube can still be adjusted by center tension and “stiffness”.
Layer magnets and adjustment:
- edge–corner magnets provide basic layer alignment;
- combined with the ball core they create a rich magnetic field — the cube “locks in” well to correct positions;
- a double-step center adjustment system (multiple tension/compression levels) makes precise tuning easier;
- you can make the cube more free and “floaty”, or relatively tight but super stable.
Stability and corner-cutting
- modern forward corner-cutting — confidently cuts big angles without severe lockups;
- reverse corner-cutting is at a good level, forgiving small alignment errors;
- the ball core helps layers snap back into place faster at high TPS, reducing random catches;
- anti-pop and anti-twist design reduces the risk of pops and corner twists even under aggressive turning.
Size, weight, materials
- Size: about 56 × 56 × 56 mm — the standard for the Super RS3M line, comfortable for most hands;
- Weight: slightly heavier than the standard magnetic version due to the core and MagLev, but still fine for long sessions;
- Shell: stickerless, bright high-contrast color scheme, easy to read at speed;
- Surface: usually semi-gloss, giving a good balance between grip and glide;
- Internals: light (primary) plastic with ridges and grooves to reduce friction.
Main advantages of MoYu Super RS3M 3×3 — Ball Core
- ball core + MagLev — maximum modern “tech” within the Super RS3M series;
- very fast, “floaty” turning with strong layer auto-alignment;
- stability and control noticeably higher than on most budget cubes;
- convenient and understandable center adjustment for different turning styles;
- excellent price-to-performance ratio for both training and competition mains.
Who it may not suit / nuances
- for beginners and fans of calmer cubes this version may feel too fast and “nervous”;
- if you prefer a heavier, more viscous feel, you’ll need tighter tensions and thicker lube;
- the cube benefits from some setup time: finding your preferred tension, center elasticity and lube — once tuned, Super RS3M Ball Core performs significantly better.
MoYu Super RS3M 3×3 — Ball Core is an excellent choice for speedcubers who want a maximally “loaded” Super RS3M with magnetic core and MagLev, capable of handling aggressive TPS and serious practice without stepping into full flagship price territory.
